It has been reported that the average
human thinks between 12,000-60,000 thoughts in a day,
most of which are habitual... needless repeats of the
same old useless thoughts again and again. For me, yoga
is a vehichle to find personal freedom and peace from
those thoughts, to quiet the mind and to toss out those
decade-old mental ruts and make space for the new, the
fresh, the positive. Thus, in my practice the physical
yoga becomes not only an opportunity to focus, strengthen
and stretch but it is an opportunity to stop the endless
chatter in ourselves and prepare our bodies and mind
to go inside to a place of true awareness.
While mental clarity and awareness may be my primary
goal in yoga, I have found that the physical practice
has had multiple other benefits in my life as well.
As a runner, rock climber, snowboarder and general outdoor
enthuthiast, yoga compliments and enhances my passion
for how I interact with the natural world. Athletes
of all kinds, can enhance their training by incorporating
yoga into their regimen. In my class, you will find
high energy flows that will strengthen and stretch the
body, a heavy emphasis on core stability, lower abdominal
and psoas conditioning, along with a focus on shoulder
and hip flexibilty. All of which will aid in the advancement
of the athletes overall performance. In addition, athletes
will benefit from proactively soothing and healing heavily
utilized muscles through stretching and the cultivation
of body-mind awareness while increasing their mental
focus and discipline.
So whether your intention is to add a proactive and
positive demention to your athletic training or to utilize
yoga as a means to gain inner clarity and awareness,
I encourage you to give my class a try. I'd be honored
to help you acheive your goals and perhaps even help
you find an inner peace you didn't even know you were
seeking.
